GRDI and Collaboration
Hello! My name is Rachel Mey Charles and despite me submitting this website, I am not a computer science major. I am currently a sophmore at Davidson College and a double major in History and East Asian Studies. This website is my creative project, it is also the way that I intend to write about and share my experience with others during my experience abroad.

Promoting Collaboration in my Home Community
I grew up in South Florida, near the big city of Miami. The city that I live in has a population that is primarily Afro-Carribean like myself. While my parents are both Haitian immigrants, my community has a large diversity in ethnic and racial backgrounds. A lot of the people in my community come from islands that either currently are apart of our used to be apart of the British Empire. I have had friends and teachers who come from islands like Jamaica, Turks and caicos, and even St. Kitts and Nevis.
However, most people in my communnity don't have the resources to explore the historical backgrounds of their homelands. I want to be able to bridge that gap between academia and personable history. A website this this one, would be a step towards that goad. Although it seems bare now, throughout the length of my academic stay I intend to archive discussions, historical debates, and my environmental exploration of the United Kingdom through the Carribean perspective. I will also be including a blog post feature that I can then encourage visitors of the website to share their own observations based off the topic presented. The greatest knowledge is one that is both shared and accessible.
